Dr. Diego C. Marines is a specialist in minimally invasive colon and rectal surgery. He completed his fellowship training in Colon and Rectal Surgery at Rutgers University. Having trained at some of the best institutions in the world, he uses laparoscopic and robotic techniques for the treatment of colorectal diseases. During training he was a mentor to surgical residents and medical students.
Dr. Marines is an attending surgeon for the University of Texas minimally invasive fellowship program, where he serves as a preceptor to educate fully trained surgeons with a special interest in gaining proficiency in colorectal surgery.
Dr. Marines is certified by the American Board of Surgery and practices Enhanced Recovery after Colorectal Surgery (ERAS). He has established pathways at his practicing institution that have been proven to result in decreased complications, less pain, better oncological outcomes, and faster return to work.
Dr. Marines is told by his patients that his friendly and caring demeanor is unique. His staff always makes sure every patient feels comfortable as they understand colon and rectal problems are a sensitive subject. He enjoys being involved in the community with his wife and son.
