Dr. Joshua Coursey is a graduate of the University of Texas at Houston Fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery. He received his general surgery training at Houston Methodist Hospital, where he was heavily involved in resident surgical education initiatives. Dr. Coursey is currently an associate of the Houston Methodist Hospital Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery. Dr. Coursey’s practice focuses on advanced minimally invasive surgery for malignant and benign diseases of the colon and rectum. Additionally, Dr. Coursey is a specialist in the treatment of malignant and benign anorectal diseases, pelvic floor disorders, and fecal incontinence. He is a devotee of Enhanced Recovery After Surgery practices, which help minimize patients’ postoperative pain and length of hospital stay. Dr. Coursey’s research interests include applying modern simulation technology to surgical education and investigating surgical outcomes associated with advanced minimally invasive surgical techniques. Dr. Coursey is Board Certified by the American College of Surgeons. He resides in the Houston area with his wife and two children. Outside of medicine, Dr. Coursey is an avid guitar player and enjoys participating in photography and visual arts.
